Five on Thursday

It's that time again.  This week it seemed to come even sooner than normal what with Monday having been a holiday here.  Today it's all about blogs both old and new.  

As part of Sian's, whose blog I mentioned in this post, "Christmas Club" and now her "Story Telling Sundays" group I've discovered Mel and her wonderful blog "I Speak Melsh".  Among other things, lately Mel's been on a decluttering project and with her sharing how well that is coming along it's inspired me to get back at decluttering/downsizing here at home. 

Another blog from Sian's "Christmas Club" and "Sunday Stories" groups is Becky's Scrapbook Burblings.  Becky aside from sharing about scrapbooking also shares her miniature work on Mondays and I'm truly amazed at the amount of detail she can get in those projects.

The Inspired Room is a home decorating blog that I love drooling over the pictures at and figuring out how I could get those looks in this house.

For craft storage ideas I love checking out the Crafty Storage blog.  And boy some of those craft room pictures she shares - I just wish mine looked like that.  :)

Finally, I couldn't forget about food now could I?  One of my favourites for that is the Tasty Kitchen blog.  

 

 

Five on Thursday and a Miss K Update

Hmmm, maybe it should be Three on Thursday only because it sounds better to me.  :)

In the past few days I’ve posted some digital layouts I’ve done as part of Jessica Sprague’s Up and Running course.   In response to one of them a blog friend (Sian of From High in the Sky) mentioned a book she has on Photoshop Elements 8.   I checked it out and found that my local bookstore had 1 copy left.  Ever since then (aside from helping to replace the kitchen tap) I’ve been checking it out.   It’s called “The Missing Manual Photoshop Elements 8 for Windows”   There is a Mac version too.

Speaking of books, I’ve mentioned it last year but I think this book is really worth a re-read.  “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society” by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows is one of the most memorable fiction books I’ve read in the past few years.  I’m just sorry that there won’t be anymore books by them as a pair.

While working on a couple of my digital pages, I decided I needed some beach/summer type  embellishments and did an internet search.   I found this sight that I’m really liking – ScrapGirls.  Here’s a sample of one of their kits and they have freebies.

 
 

Digital scrapbooking somehow always brings me back to Katie Pertiet from Designer Digitals.  I love her 
designs. I’ve lately discovered her blog and it’s quickly become a favourite.  Check it out.

And finally something for all you cooks out there.  I’m loving my new Le Creuset French Oven.  It not only cooks great, it’s part of my new weight lifting program once I’ve got it full of whatever I’m cooking – like the stew the other day.  :)

 
 Now for an update on my new little Great Niece, Miss K.   We got a facebook message today that at 6 weeks she has now more than doubled her weight and is at 6 pounds 7 ounces.   Thanks everyone so much for all their thoughts and prayers for her.   Can’t wait to meet her next month!  Sorry no new pictures.  I’ll have to get after Mummy, Daddy & Grampie but with my niece going down there this weekend with her family for the holiday I’m sure there will be some up on her site next week.

Five on Thursday

Almost forgot it was Thursday.  With DH having Monday off it’s thrown me I thought today was Wednesday – good thing I didn’t have any appointments booked. 

I thought I would share 5 of my favourite blogs today.

My friend Tracy Weinzapfel introduced me to Helmar Adhesives and the blog for the Helmar USA Design Team.  It’s got loads of ideas for using their adhesives.  Yesterday’s was on cardstock roses.   Keep an eye out for Tracy’s tutorials.

Through a class I took at http://www.shimelle.com I discovered Sian and her blog From High in the Sky.  It’s a blog I check everyday.  Love her stories and scrapbooking shares.  The first Sunday of every month is special when she hosts Story Telling Time and a bunch of us chip in with some stories as well.

I met Paula Wessels, oh my gosh, 10 years ago.  She’s a scrapbooker, quilter, and dog photographer among other things.   Check out her It’s All Part of Life’s Rich Pageant blog. 

Another must read for me every day is Lee’s blog Embrace Life

It was hard to decide which one to share as my 5th one but finally decided it would have to be Ree Drummond’s  Pioneer Woman for her stories and photography tips and tutorials.
