Amy at "Over at our place" came up with a challenge the other day. We’re supposed to take pictures of 5 things in our lives that won’t be here in 5 years and blog or scrapbook about them. I decided to go for it and immediately tried to come up with 5 things that I could share pictures of. J’s paycheque was an immediate thought of something that wouldn’t be around in 5 years. I’m positive he’s not going to work that far after 65.
But there is no way I’m taking a picture of his paycheque stub to share on the internet or anywhere else for that matter. So to find 5 other things.
Our old trustworthy Camry surely will not be around in our lives in 5 years – it’s already 9 years old and the only reason we kept it when we got the Mustang is that J didn’t want to drive the ‘Stang in the winter.
The refrigerator will be lucky if it makes it to the January sales. They just don’t make them like they used to what with all the plastic on the inside. I’ll swear the vegetable bin is going to fall out on the floor one of these days as most of the supports for it have broken off.
My Grandmother’s cedar lined wardrobe that has been sitting in the basement for years (at least since my Dad moved out of his house in 1996) unused. I need to find someone who will give it a good home. BTW, I know the picture is a bit crooked – I couldn’t get far enough away from it to get a good picture, that is not without moving all the Christmas stuff.
The monstrous monitor that takes up valuable space on J’s desk and hasn’t been used in years. He’s promised me that it will go out the next time the town has an electronics drop-off day (along with some old cell-phones). Hey guess what as I was typing this he unplugged it!
The router that has annoyed us something fierce from day one. It would continually drop the signal on us. I finally had the last straw on Thursday morning when I couldn’t get it to work and was on the support line for over 40 minutes with a rather rude person. We now have a nice new one that hasn’t given us one bit of trouble (should I knock on wood after saying that?). It will go with the monitor and cell phones.
At least these things won’t disappear down to J’s workbench to supposedly be fixed but never again looked at.
Looks like the only thing that will cause me problems getting rid of is Grandma’s wardrobe. I hate to toss it out so I need to find someone who would like it.
I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone else came up with and to Amy’s next challenge.
